Our History
Refuge was birthed out of a move of God on a Sunday morning in
June of 2001 in a home just outside of New Brockton, Alabama.
Our founding (and current) pastor is Bro. Greg Adkins of Elba,
Alabama. The first service was awesome; several were saved.
There were about 30 people of all ages crammed in a small living
room for that first service! On that same Sunday night, after
the second service with about 35 present, the new congregation saw a
need for a church building. The next day the Lord helped them
find our current church building located at 7842 Highway 51 in New
Brockton, Alabama. RefugeChurch had very humble beginnings.
The very first service in the new building was one very practical.
We had about fifty rented folding chairs and with bare cement
floors. We used an old piece of a counter top for our pulpit. But we
had church! The next Sunday the Lord blessed us with new carpet and
some used pews out of Springfield Community Church in Panama City,
FL. Over the next few years we began working on our little church.
In 2005 we began a project and expanded our fellowship hall, added a
foyer, and a new nursery. In June of 2007 we saw the need to
renovate the Sanctuary. We pulled out all of the old blue carpet and
green pews. We fully renovated the Sanctuary with new carpet and new
furniture. We are still working to make our facilities look as good
as possible to meet the needs of our congregation. But most of all
besides the new carpet and furniture. We want the power of almight
God to fill our Sanctuary. We pray that every service lives will be
changed. We have seen tremendous growth over the past couple of
months from a congregation of about 50-60 to over 100 in our Sunday
Morning Worship!!! But most important we are growing not only number
wise but we are growing more spiritual as the body of Christ. God has really moved here at RefugeChurch and we
would like to extend a personal invitation to you and your family to
come be with us!

About The Area! |
| |
Refuge Church is located in the small town of
New Brockton, AL. However, we are only six miles from the city of
Enterprise, AL. Located in the Southeast corner of Alabama.
Enterprise has seen a major growth in population over the past five
years. A majority of the growth can be focused on the nearby
army aviation training at Ft. Rucker only a few miles away. There
are several shops, eateries and hotels for you entertainment and
lodging. Also, Dothan, AL is only thirty miles away offering several
venues for shopping and entertainment such as the Wiregrass Commons
Mall, Dothan Pavilion , Adventure Land and Water World.
Enterprise was also accredited for having one of the best school
system's in the state of Alabama. However, sadly on March 1, 2007
nine lives were lost when a massive F4 tornado struck our beautiful
city stretching from one side of town to another. Making a path over
1/2 mile wide. Eight lives were lost at the Enterprise High School
and one elderly woman died at her residence on College Street.
Although much of the debris has been cleaned up and plans for a new
school have been made. We will not forget the events that transpired
on March 1, 2007. However this only made the people of Enterprise,
AL stronger and we will rebuild. So, if you are making plans to
attend Refuge Church whether it be for a Sunday worship service or a
special occasion. Enterprise, AL and the surrounding communities
will be sure to make you feel right at home!!! |
